After there was some chatter about what Rihanna's next Talk That Talk single would be, the singer confirmed it on Twitter late Tuesday night when she dropped the cover art for the album's title track.
"#TALKthatTALK love u guys! Been missin u," she tweeted along with the cover art, which features her looking fierce and done up in her street punk/rockabilly clothes as she slouches against a wall. The Stargate-produced track features her mentor, new dad Jay-Z.
Rihanna confirmed that she and Hova would appear on the song together back in November, weeks before she dropped the album. "We are very happy with the song, and Jay's verse is crazy — same with Rihanna's part," Stargate member Tor Erik Hermansen explained at the time, adding that the song was a "midtempo banger with hard drums, dirty synths, and Rihanna and Jay at their best."
In the lead-up to the single announcement, there had been rumors that Jay and Ri might be joined by their "Run This Town" pal Kanye West on the song. VH1 reports that the rumor began to circulate after Australian Chart News Report listed the Chicago MC on the track. The rumor, however, remains unconfirmed.
"Talk That Talk" is the third single off the November album release. It follows the über-smash "We Found Love" as well as "You Da One." Earlier this month, Rihanna was named the best-selling digital artist of all time.
"At points, it's a combination of edgy and passionate at the same time, and when you listen to the album, it's just like Loud," vocal producer Kuk Harrell told MTV News of Rihanna's album. "She's at a place right now where her voice just sounds incredible, and she's such a great presence."
