AKRON, Ohio ? In conjunction with Blood Cancer Awareness Month, the University of Akron women?s soccer team hosted Leukemia Lymphoma Society Day to raise awareness for blood cancers in its game against Marshall this past Sunday.
The LLS raised money through ticket and raffle sales, while the team wore red shirts during warm-ups and honored Nathan Stephens as the game?s honorary captain. Nathan?is a 5-year old Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia survivor.?Nathan?is serving as the 2012 Honored Hero for the Light The Night Walk in Akron.? He will walk on October 14 with his team?Nathan?s Ninjas.??Nathan?was joined by his mom Kathy, his dad Brian, and his younger sister Elayna at the game and walked out with the team during introductions.
The Leukemia Lymphoma Society?s Light The Night Walk is being held on campus at the Stile Athletics Field House on Sunday, October 14. For more information, visit LLS.org.
